FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM

Apart from the Bible, I say with no exaggeration that Dr Gavin's Appointment with Jesus has been to me, the most influential book I have ever read. I first read it as a fledgling pastor more than ten years ago and I have been reaping the benefits ever since. Dr Gavin writes from the heart and his wealth of personal experience. The book almost instantly helped me to learn to hear the voice of Jesus speaking gently into the deepest recesses of my life.

A decade on and the principals of this book are still the foundation of my daily devotions and the key to an ever-deepening friendship with the Lord. I am so grateful that Dr Gavin, shaped by his own appointments with Jesus, had the unction to compile this easy-to- follow guide to a disciplined life in the secret place and, thus, a life abiding in the Lord Jesus.

FROM ROMANIA

Christian Spiritual formation is an orderly process. Today, many Christians live in spiritual defeat because of disorder in their lives. How can we have this abundant life that is available to us in Christ? In this book, Dr Gavin Williams challenges his readers to a daily Appointment with Jesus and to develop their personal relation‐ ship with the Lord.

This book offers practical tools for believers who want to become disciplined people who influence their generation. Why? Because only "the disciplined life in the secret place sets the foundation for effective ministry in the public place." This statement has become a standard for my life, since I first realised its implications.

Over the last ten years I have used Appointment with Jesus as a text‐ book for our classes on Spiritual Formation. Our students' eyes have been open to see that "there is something in the realm of the Spirit which we will only find when we are alone in the quiet places with God."

I recommend this book for Bible College students and their profes‐ sors, for teenagers and their parents, for church members and their pastors.

FROM MBARARA, UGANDA

Whether you have been on the Christian walk for several years or have just begun the journey, this inspirational book will help you to experience a closer intimacy with Jesus. It is both inspirational and practical, simple to understand yet profound. It takes you by the hand and guides you on the path to enter into the secret place with God.

I read the first edition of this book several years ago and am still living out the principals it taught me. It laid a foundation in my spiritual walk that has enabled me to stand through many years (and challenges) of being a missionary in Africa.

I have gifted this book to more people than any other. It is a must read for hundreds of students who pass through our ministry training school. Many graduates have powerful testimonies of how their spiritual lives have been transformed as a result of under‐ standing and applying these principals.

As you read through the pages of Appointment with Jesus it will come as a breath of fresh air in your spiritual life, drawing you ever closer to Him.
