Journey into astronomy with Caro's Comet: The Celestial Cinderella, the whimsical story of Caroline Herschel, the first female astronomer to discover "the first lady's comet!"
Caro longs to study the stars, view comets, and learn about astronomy, so her talking telescope beckons her to explore the constellations outside her window. Then she will truly be a scientist!
But her mother disagrees. "Comet, shmomet!" Because of Caro's physical limitations from typhus, her mom thinks she can only sweep the floors, not the skies. But with her magic telescope's encouragement, Caro learns she is unlimited.
On every page a sparkling light captivates Caro. Famously known as the real-life "Celestial Cinderella," she uncovers the mysteries of the night sky and becomes the first female astronomer to earn a salary. Caro was even awarded the Gold Medal of Science!
An enchanting story for young readers, filled with purpose, creativity, courage, and strength, persistent Caro doesn't give up, believing in herself even when others won't.
Incorporating Math and Science standards, colorful cartoon illustrations by Bill Ivins capture Caro's real-life quest to map the stars!
