Jessica Rose, columnist for Hamilton City Magazine, calls Broken "powerful." "I love this book. Powerful, touching, important and occasionally funny. Highly recommended!" - Mark Coakley, Canadian Author "I spent many nights reading this book because I couldn't put it down." Alannah MacDonald, goodreads "As I write I have the sounds of your Epilogue in my head. What a moving testament to your beloved ‘unicorn’. And of course, the whole book is just that. You permitted me to make some notes and suggest some changes if I wished. Michelle, I could not change a syllable. It is your story – the story of Raisa’s life. I learned so much from reading it – about sighthounds, breeders, vets, bodies that break … but more than anything else about love! Thank you." - Dr. Howard Jones, Professor Emeritus, former chair of the Classics Department at McMaster University
Michelle Stark is a writer, lawyer, and farmer based in the Dundas Valley. She grew up in Waterdown and then pursued a combined honours degree in English and Anthropology at McMaster University before earning her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She built a distinguished legal career in Hamilton, where she became a partner at a prominent law firm and served as President of the Hamilton Law Association. After years of practicing law, Michelle embraced a second career in writing, blending her analytical skills with a passion for storytelling. Her work spans both creative and professional writing, including contributions to legal publications. Michelle and her husband, Tim, now run a small farm where they produce award-winning maple syrup and keep a flock of Shetland sheep, heritage breed chickens, Sebastopol geese, and three beloved mixed-breed dogs.
